As an escapee from the city, I’m only too familiar with how exhausting and disconnecting it can sometimes be when you’re living a hectic city lifestyle – especially for those of us in GLBTQI community, who often tend to live our lives at a whirlwind pace!
Moving to this little slice of paradise five years ago, I soon found out why Byron Bay has its reputation as the perfect environment to enjoy rest, relaxation and time out. There really is nowhere else in Australia that offers this unique combination of breathtaking natural beauty, perfect climate, wild, unspoilt coastline, and ample opportunity to explore healthy living, soulfulness and stillness.
I’d been toying with the idea of offering luxury retreat-standard accommodation for fellow gay and lesbian travellers to Byron for quite some time – but it was only when I recently stumbled across an incredible new house up for rent, that the idea finally began to take hold. As it turned out, my lucky find is also the ideal healing sanctuary for stressed out city-dwellers in need of some time for themselves.
Being a trained Ka Huna massage therapist (and apparently not a half-bad cook), I decided to throw my skills into creating a place where gay and lesbian visitors can come to rest and soak up a magical ambience, eat delicious, nourishing food, treat themselves to healing bodywork and enjoy the spectacular environment this place offers.
Byron centre may only be a few minutes drive (or cycle along the beach) – but it feels like a million miles away in this tranquil setting. The house has a spacious five bedrooms, plus two indoor lounge areas as well as my massage treatment room – and the place is surrounded by beautifully-maintained lush gardens and a charming pond, whose cute little tea tree frogs will softly serenade you as you drift off to sleep.
With the clothing-optional Tyagarah beach just 2 minutes down the track, as well as a nearby tea tree lake that’s ideal for swimming, this relatively undiscovered gem on the Byron coast is about as close to paradise as you can get.

I look forward to welcoming you soon.
